About Us

Melissa Blevins is excited to serve as principal of Blue River Elementary. Her 24-year career in education has included a variety of roles across several communities.

Blevins began her career in Blue Valley as a classroom teacher, spending one year at Leawood Elementary and 10 years teaching third grade at Prairie Star Elementary.

In 2011, she transitioned into instructional coaching and later served as director of curriculum and assistant principal at a charter school in Kansas City.

For the past seven years, Blevins has served as a principal in Topeka, Lawrence and, most recently, in Blue Valley. Throughout her career, she has remained dedicated to fostering a positive, inclusive school culture. She has implemented progressive educational programs, promoted student engagement and created a safe, nurturing environment that supports academic and personal growth.

As an educational leader, Blevins believes strongly in the power of education to transform lives. With her experience, passion for learning and commitment to student success, she is focused on ensuring that every student at Blue River Elementary receives a high-quality education that prepares them for the future. Her goal is to cultivate a love of learning, empower teachers and create a supportive, enriching environment for the entire school community.
